The fast evolving cinematic fabric of the city will bring in some Spanish hues. April 2 and 3 will present to Pune the first ever Spanish International Film Festival. Jointly organised by the Pune Film Foundation (PFF) and the Casa De La India (Indian Cultural House),The Ministry of Culture,Government of Spain,the Spanish Embassy and the National Film Archives of India,the two-day festival will feature nine recent Spanish films.

“The festival will also see the presence of acclaimed Spanish actors Elena Anaya,Marta Atura and Lola Deunas. In fact,apart from organising the Pune International Film festival every year,events like these will be a part of our regular film related activities. In addition to this,we will also have the country focuses,and will have international and national actors,directors and technicians coming down to the city to speak about films,” informed Jabbar Patel,vice-President of the PFF.

The festival will showcase films like Agora (Mists of Time/ 2010),Celda 211 (Cell 211 /2010),El Secreto De Sus Ojos (The secret in their eyes / 2010) and Los Abrazos Rotos (Broken Embraces / 2010) amongst others. “Producer-director Edmon Roch,director of the Casa De La India,delegation head,Gulliermo Rodriguez,and producer Beatriz De La Gandara will also be present at the event,” adds Patel.

The films are open to the public free of charge. The registrations,however,will be open from today till April 1,at the Marathon Bhavan,Mitra Mandal Chowk. Registrations can also be made at the NFAI on April 2 and 3.
