Some Rock,Some Blues

After enchanting audiences in Bengaluru and Hyderabad,the Divas of Rock will storm Pune today. The Divas aka Monica Dogra of Shaa’ir n Func,Naina Kundu of Naina Kundu Trio and Pragnya Wakhlu will use this performance platform to inspire others with their music. “This initiative gives recognition and voice to the women who have struggled to achieve their dreams. It will be an inspiration for those who want to build a career in the music industry,” says Wakhlu.

Shaa’ir n Func is still on a music high after its gig at the recent NH7 Weekender. “We keep updating our music and reinventing ourselves but we stay true to the genre of electronic rock. We have performed extensively in this city. Every time,we come back with something new,” says Dogra,one half of Shaa’ir n Func. Randolph Correia and Dogra presently top the list of the country’s most commercially successful bands after completing their ‘I am,We are,You is…’ tour. Dogra hosts the television show,The Dewarists,and has also starred in Dhobi Ghat. Her voice also powered the Dooriyan Bhi Hai Zaroori number in Break ke Baad.

The mood will switch to blues and funk once the Naina Kundu Trio take centrestage. “It took time and effort to find people who like to hear and play my kind of music. I share a good music chemistry with our drummer Floyd Fernandez and our guitarist Andrew Kanja,” says Naina Kundu. This easy chemistry shows in their music.

The third diva,city-based artist Pragnya Wakhlu,vocalist and guitarist with Soul Strings,will take to the stage with the band’s flautist,Gandhar Amin. Think alternative blues,folk and soft rock. “I will also announce my solo project,The Journey to the Sun. It is in the mastering and mixing stage and will be ready for release in December,” says Wakhlu.
