Tap-ping talent
The Innocent Heroes Foundation (IHF) has organised a half-day dance workshop with internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Sandeep Soparrkar in the city on October 2. More than 100 children from various NGOs,between the age-group of 10-15 years from the city will be attending this workshop,to be held at Endurance Fitness Club,E-Square,10 am onwards. IHF is working on a national and international awareness project to save water. This awareness will be showcased in the form of a dance ballet. We will have children from various NGOs performing the same,so we are scouting for talent. This workshop will be akin to a selection process for all talented children. Sandip will help us select children who will then perform on the national level first,and eventually on an international level on this subject, says Sheetal Kharka,founder and managing director,IHF.
In the land of serpents
A camping venture in the dense and wildlife rich forests of Amboli has been organised by the Centre for Environment Education (CEE). Scheduled to take place between October 8 and 11 campers can get to witness the biodiversity of Western Ghats such as- Malabar Gliding Frog,Koyna Toad,Malabar Pit Viper,Yellow-browed Bulbul,butterflies and so on. Famous hill station since British era,Amboli is situated in Sindhudurga District of Maharashtra. At an altitude of around 700 metre,Amboli supports varied fauna of Western Ghats,one of the Biodiversity hotspots. Amboli is a dream place for wildlife enthusiasts due to the rich herpetofauna meaning lizards,snakes and frogs,found here,including those endemic to Western Ghats, says Dharmaraj Patil,researcher. Open for age group above 10 years,last date for registration is September 28. Bookings on first come,first admission basis.
