Rowing is,physically,one of the most demanding sports. It requires a good sense of balance as well as great strength and stamina. Sir Steve Redgrave,who won six Olympic medals,including five golds in rowing,is one of the sport’s most successful athletes. Lavasa is opening a rowing academy,named in his honour as the Sir Steve Redgrave Rowing Academy. Redgrave and global sports management firm IMG will be looking into the planning and development of the academy,mentoring them in physical and mental conditioning. Speaking about it,Redgrave says,“I am tremendously excited about the creation of my first rowing academy. To help nurture rowing in the area and on a broader basis across the country is a passion of mine and I hope we will be able to play a significant role in the evolution of rowing in the country.”

Anthony Robbins has said,“Life is a gift,and it offers us the privilege,opportunity,and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.” On Monday,June 14,the Hard Rock Cafe celebrated its Founders’ Day by offering a special treat followed by fun,games and an entertainment program for the underprivileged children from Family Care Projects,a Pune based organisation that ensures that children in Pune,especially vulnerable children,live in a safe and enabling environment where their rights are recognised,realised and respected. Towards the end of the afternoon,the cafe organised a Burger Bash contest for customers. The cafe also played songs from the ’70s in honour of the opening of their first outlet in London in 1971.

Over two decades he has shared with the public his devouring passion for both rare grooves and dance floor tempos. And now the star of clubs all over the planet,Bob Sinclar will take Puneites to another place with his performance in the city. The world renowned DJ will be performing at Hard Rock Café,tomorrow evening. Sinclar started specialising in funk and hip-hop music and his first club hit was Gym Tonic,and is known for popularising the French touch of house music with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. His track— I Feel For You,a tribute to French musician Cerrone,from his second album Champs Elysées,hit number nine in the UK Top 40. In 2005 he scored a hit with the single Love Generation,that became one of the official anthems for the World Cup 2006 held in Germany. The follow-up hit was World,Hold On,that features Steve Edwards. The remix of World,Hold on was nominated for a Grammy in 2007 in the category of Remixed Recording and topped in Billboard Magazine a beating Madonna and Christina Aguilera. In May 2007,he released the Soundz of Freedom album while the remix of Rock This Party reached number 1 while his latest album,Born in ‘69,was released on in May last year.
