Royal Treats

Destitute children at the Eklavya Nyas an NGO run by Renu Gavaskar had a memorable summer treat when Marathi actress Madhura Welankar treated them to the first mangoes of the season. The Alphonso mangoes were gifted to the children by Abhijeet Bhasale promoter of Mangowale.com. Speaking about the same Welankar says,“I’m thrilled to be here to witness the joy on the faces of the young kids.” “Our kids did not have the opportunity to have any mangoes due to the extravagant costs of the same, but we are very happy,” adds Renutai Gavaskar, founder of Eklavya Nyas. Welankar, who will be seen in a double role in the forthcoming movie Hapoos, enjoyed every moment of the afternoon with the children and even cut a few mangoes for them. Speaking about the movie Hapoos she says,“ It’s a movie about a mango farmer from the Konkan region and his struggle to make ends meet.”

Outdoor Delights

While the mercury outside continues to soar,Friday night witnessed an event of different sorts when the duo of Chris and Mike set the stage on fire at the Momo Alfresco, the outdoor barbeque grill located at Courtyard By Marriott in Hinjewadi. The duo had the audiences grooving to the music and also had them sing along as they performed a choicest selection of Western songs ranging from acoustic rock to the old country music genres. The duo who were a part of the band Strange Brew, left the audiences wanting for more as the outdoor idyllic ambience coupled with the good food and music played a perfect beginning for the weekend.
