Patriotism on wheels
As a part of promotion for director Ashok Kamtes forthcoming film Krantiveer Rajguru,a truck,named Kranti Rath,with sets of Lahore Jail on it started from Parvati and reached Shanivarvada,where hanging of the three martyrs was enacted by three models who played — Bhagat Singh,Rajguru and Sukhdev. The hanging was done at Shanivarvada at 7.33pm,exactly when the revolutionaries were hanged in Lahore jail on March 23,1931. Evoking a feeling of patriotism,the rath will be moving on the city streets for three days and will then move to Nashik for the final release of the film on May 14. The Rath was inaugurated at the hands of Baba Shinde,member of RTA. Huge number of people participated in the rally and at the hanging at Shanivarvada.
Melody meet
Adding grace and melody to the musical scenario of the city,Santoor maestro Satish Vyas will be performing today at YB Chavan Auditorium in Kothrud from 9.30 pm onwards. The event organised by Pancham Nishad Creatives will also have Satyajeet Talwalkar on the Tabla to accompany the santoor maestro. Admission to the Concert is Free.

Keeping in mind the need of the hour,Gram-Mangal and Maharashtra Gandhi Nidhi Foundation is conducting a course on natural construction Learning by Building,from May 10 to 21. The course will train people in designing and building spaces by using natural materials and junk. Sourabh Phadke,who is associated with the organisers,says,The course aims to make them experience the freedom of self help construction through various techniques. During the course the participants will take part in the design and construction of classrooms initiated by learners of Gram-Mangal’s Learning Home. The course is divided into modules. It would also include practical. The participants will get a certificate of participation from Gram-Mangal and Maharashtra Gandhi Nidhi Foundation on completion of the course.
Jazz by the way
While we say that music knows no boundaries,they believe it and they have proved it yet again. Singer Shubha Mudgal and her husband Aneesh Pradhan with their team of musicians,under the banner Koshish,performed at Ishanya recently. Brining together the hues of Indian classical,North Indian music,Jazz and western music the team has come up with a new colour of music that is appealing to all ears,irrespective of their choices. Apart from the jugalbandi,the event also included some popular and some unreleased songs. The team dat brought together various forma of music comprised from Pratap Rath,percussionists,a veteran from world of film music,jazz drummer Benoni Soans,Joquim Dais on the Bass guitar,Sudhir Nayak on the harmonium,Murad Ali on the Sarangi and Cuthbert Dsilva on Bass player.
