As the state celebrates 50 years of statehood on May 1 a star-studded event – Pravah Soneri Maharashtracha — unfolded at the Shaniwarwada premises on Tuesday to mark the occasion. The event is about the glorious journey that had been embarked upon five decades back,the fervor of the celebration was in full swing and performance were well juxtaposed with the various flavors of Marathi culture and entertainment raging from Bhakticha (devotional),Lokkalecha (Folk songs) along with the performances of different genres of art. Starting with a dance performance the event went on to witness a segment of patriotic songs by Hrishikesh Ranade. Audiences had a great time watching the performance of folk songs by the versatile singer Bela Shinde. Stand-up comedy presented by Pushkar Shroti,Prasad Oak and Neha Joshi created a humorous ambience. Concluding the celebration,a skit Pravah Jeevanacha was enacted by actors Avdhoot Gupte,Vaishali Samant and Ravindra Sathe during the event while audio-visual of legends like Sachin Tendulkar and other Marathi sports icons like Ramakant Achrekar,Dhanraj Pillai and Anjali Bhagwat were featured in Krida Vishwacha.

Acting galore
A Mumbai-based new generation acting academy Kreating Charakters is all set to commence an accelerated four months course in film and television acting to impart these intricacies of acting. Speaking on the occasion Vidur and co-founders of the academy Samar Jay Singh and Roopesh Thalriyal believe that acting can’t be taught,but definitely be learnt and conviction towards acting in the movies must give youngsters the confidence to make the right choices and take up the right educational path instead of confusing themselves with mottled career. The training programme at the academy deals in enriching two complimentary aspects required to develop an actor. Throwing light on that Singh says,“The number of student per batch is restricted to16. This keeps the quality of training intact while helping students do scenes and exercises with technical execution the way it goes on the set”. The trio with their likeminded approach towards training procedures and having a rich working experience of more than 15 years as acting trainers with different modules,courses and workshops.

The ongoing Manglasutra Mahotsav,which started from April 15 and will go on till May 16 at all branches of PNG stores,also marks the special occasion of Adhikmas,which has a special significance in Hindu Culture as it is supposed to be the most opportune time for charity,especially for the mother-in-laws who gift precious silver articles to their son-in-laws.
