From artist to technical gurus to musical experts,Puneites are leaving their footprint in every field. III Kawai Asia Piano Competition witnessed the same finesse when city based Nakul Jogdeo brought laurels to the city. Jogdeo represented India in the competition and won 6th prize in the amateur senior group from 27 finalist who were from China,Japan and Indonesia. His 20-minute programme included works of Beethoven,Granados and Mendelssohn. A student of Roxana Anklesaria-Doctor at the Academy of Music since 2003,Nakul has won several national competitions. He has also completed courses in Harmony,History,Piano Repertoire and Pedagogy from The Academy of Music,Pune. He is currently working on the Licenciate Diploma in Piano Performance (LTCL) of the Trinity Guildhall School (LTCL).
Tales of the Maratha
Shivaji Maharaj’s tale of courage and bravery is one of the most celebrated stories in the pages of history. So it is not surprising to find a tele-serial based on his life account to be equally remembered by all. This was reflected in the recent launch of DVD’s of the serial Raja Shivchatrapati. The team got together on the release of their uninterrupted version of the serial,which has been complied in a set of 17 DVDs. First 16 DVDs are from the serial but the last one is making of series taken as a token of remembrance,” informed producer and director Nitin Desai who was present along with the distributor and the lead actor. Amol Kohle,who essayed the role of Shivaji,interacted with audience after the release,and awarded free DVDs of the serial to the winners of interesting quiz session.
It is said that the written word holds in itself imagination manifold. No wonder then that novels are increasingly being converted into films. This trend is being seen in Marathi film industry too. The premiere show of Muskan Production’s Marathi film,Chitra based on a novel written by veteran Aannabhau Sathe was recently held. The evening saw the presence of director Raj Kuber,producer M Ali Sheikh,screenplay writer Raj Kazi,and actor Nisha Parulekar. Producer M Ali Sheikh while talking about his first debut said,I have read most of the novels of Annabhau Sathe,I like his concept and so I decided to take it up as a movie.”
