Glitter-ati
This weekend, the city will be bedecked in jewels – intricate embellishments and dramatic storytelling designs. Celebrated jewellery designer Alpana Gujral from New Delhi will be showcasing her Rang Rasa collection at Vivanta by Taj Blue Diamond. Showcasing in the city for the first time,Gujral is looking forward to meeting potential customers. “The collection is Mughal inspired; it has an antique look that successfully blends traditional styles with contemporary forms. The jewellery is very festive and perfect for Diwali and the wedding season,” she says. For Gujral, the jewellery she designs is no less than works of art. As she says,“After all,not all art is found in a museum.” When she designs, her work takes the form of a canvas that comes alive with gems and metals. “Art evokes emotion and jewellery communicates it,” she says, adding,“Jewellery is an unspoken expression of individual style. It is a significant part of our heritage and each time,I strive to capture the essence of beauty in all my designs while also incorporating a piece of our history.” Gujral’s traditional Minakari motifs comprise flowers, plants and scrolling vines. The new pieces that she will depict reflect the blend of the traditional and contemporary. Diviya Aggarwal of Divikriaa will be hosting Gujral and her collection. Aggarwal says,“The collection has limited edition pieces – from earrings, necklaces to cuffs, bracelets and rings. We are really looking forward to treating the city to her designs.” Head to the venue between 11 am and 8 pm to take a dekko.
