Shining bright
This one will surely make Indians proud. At the 14 th International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) held from November 8 to 16 in China,where a total of 17 teams from 16 countries participated,India topped the medal tally with five gold and one silver medal. A team of six students gave many Indians reasons to celebrate. Aniket Sule,Academic Coordinator,Indian Astronomy Olympiad at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education says,This is the third instance of India winning five gold medals. Praful Dhariwal,a student of Dr Kalmadi Shamrao High School,Pune,by scoring highest marks in theoretical as well as data analysis test,bagged the gold medal in the junior category. Not only this,he was declared overall absolute winner in the same category. The other gold medallists are Chirag Modi from Indore (MP),Nitesh Kumar Singh (Mumbai),Shantanu Agarwal (Patna) and Mayank Raj Mehta from Deoghar (Jharkhand),while Jeevana Priya from Secundarabad (Hyderabad) won the silver medal. Mayank Vahia,National Coordinator for the Astronomy Olympiad added,This is the seventh time in the last 10 years that India has performed this well.

In another piece of good news for Marathi stage lovers,Atharva Theatres,after their huge success of legendary dramas like Moruchi Mavshi,Shantecha Court Chalu Aahe and To Mee Navech,is all set to entertain Pune with Kaka Ki Kaku,another comedy. Directed by Sanjeevkumar Patil,it stars Suchet Gavai,Sagar Chavhan,Sudhanshu Panse,Pradip Muzumdar,Bhakti Vichare,Amruta Devle,Jyoti Kanetkar and Avinash Naravde. This is going to be the first commercial stage show of Kaka Ki Kaku and is meant purely for entertainment, says the director. The show will take place on Sunday,November 22,at 9.30 pm onwards at Balgandharva Rangamandir.
