Rock mania

For all those who grew up idolising the likes of Roger Waters and Steve Morse,are in for a rock reunion when The Hobos a progressive and experimental act,will be grooving in to the psychedelic sound of the old world rockers. Inspired by Pink Floyd,Deep Purple,Dream Theater,The Doors,amongst others the band which performs both covers as well as originals will be experimenting by infusing raga and a number of Indian sounds in some of their songs aiming to expand the minds of the audience for musical explorations and more. The band will perform at the Hard Rock Café 9 pm onwards today. Hailing from Kolkata,the band first hit the spotlight at the annual fest of the Indian Institute of Management. The band members believe their sound is hard hitting and heavy but never looses track of the melody of the same. They will be performing some of their original pieces like ‘On the Road’ and ‘Kurukshetra’ during the event.

Just shoot it

For all those who love to dabble with photos and cameras on a regular basis,the India Art Gallery is organising a two-day workshop on the topic — Basic digital photography — which will be conducted by advertising and industrial photographer Sateesh Paknikar. The two-day workshop will feature events like the concept of digital photography,the various types of digital cameras,their handling techniques and controls,and the practical aspects about the same. In addition to it the course will also have tips and techniques on travel,creative,nature and people photography,along with information on basic editing softwares and outdoor photography.

Theatrical musings

While the city is a constant hotbed for artistic and theatrical expressions,city based director,Shivdas Ghodke,will be directing a theatrical adaptation of the poetry of Dr Dharmavir Bharti,‘Kanupriya’. The event,which will be held on May 7,will be showcased at the Yashwantrao Chavan Hall in Kothrud. It will consist of a unique theatrical expression that will be performed by well-known Odissi exponent Shubhada and will have music composed by Vijay Tambe. The play is not only a conventional dance act,but is a blend of the visual techniques of theatre and dance in a classical manner. It tells the story of the innermost emotions in the mind of Radha about Lord Krishna. Shubhada will perform the dance along with her disciple Mitali Varadkar during the event.
