Two goals from Sanket Dongare and Rajesh Kakade helped Sky Hawks cruise past under strength Shivajians team 2-0 in the First Division encounter of the Peninsula Land Pune Football League being held at the SSPMS football ground on Friday.
Shivajians started the game with only eight players and Sky Hawks took advantage of this by scoring the opening goal in the fourth minute. The goal was an outcome of a thunderous strike from midfielder Sanket Dongare. He took one touch to take the ball out of his feet and blasted the ball into the net. After this,Sky Hawks were dominating most of the game. They enjoyed majority of the possession. Soon after,they had a chance to extend their lead after they were awarded a penalty for handball. Dongare stepped up to the plate but only managed to strike the post and failed to give his team a two-goal cushion.
Following this,Shivajians striker Chinmay Kotnis had a golden chance to equalize when he was in on goal,but he missed the target. The half ended 1-0.
The opening five minutes of the second half saw Shivajians launch a few attacks on opposition goal but none of them troubled the keeper. However,it wasnt long before Sky Hawks took control of the game again and they extended their lead through Rajesh Kakade.
Immediately after,Shivajians had a couple of good chances to score from the corner position,but they missed both of them.
Sky Hawks played out the rest of the game comfortably and won it 2-0.
