Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expelled a youth party member after he took a Pune gangster to MP Shrikant Shinde to wish him on his birthday.

The Sena took action after Sanjay Raut, MP from Uddhav-led Sena tweeted a photo of the gangster with Shrikant Shinde, who is chief minister’s son.

The gangster, Hemant Dabhekar, who is out on bail in a murder case, met Shrikant Shinde at the CM’s residence on Saturday and presented him a bouquet. Raut tweeted the photo.

Sena spokesperson Naresh Mhaske said, “Among the many who came to wish Shrikant Shinde on his birthday was this particular man whose photo Raut tweeted. Shrikant had no clue who the person was. Our Yuva Sena executive committee member Aniket Javalkar had taken him to Shrikant Shinde. We have expelled Javalkar from the party. It was not a big thing, but Javalkar should know who should be taken to meet our leaders.”

Mhaske said Sanjay Raut himself is out on bail in a serious offence. “If someone tweets picture of Raut standing next to Uddhav Thackeray, what will his party chief do?”
