In the wake of the recent terror threats, security measures have been stepped up at Pune International Airport. Keeping the security in mind, visitors accompanying the passengers at the airport are not allowed in the airport complex for the time being.

A senior airport official said,“The airport has been put on high alert. We have restricted the entry to visitors, who come along with the passengers. We have taken this decision to avoid any unnecessary crowd. We have even restricted the vehicles passing by the airport complex. These vehicles are being diverted to another road.”

“We have also started conducting random checks of the vehicles and increased patrolling on the premises. Apart from the check at the entry point,we have even put up another security check before the passenger boards the flight,” the official said.

Dhairyashil Vandekar,Station Manager of Air India said,“We have taken necessary arrangements regarding the security on our flights, but it is not proper to divulge all the details of the security measures.”

Apart from the Central Industrial Security Force, the airport authorities have also sought extra police force, including the traffic police, for security.
