St. Vincents High School escaped meeting hosts The Bishops School,Camp,in the semifinals when they drew with The Bishops School,Undri,in their last league match of the Bishops-Southern Command Inter-School Invitational football tournament at the Jeejeebhoy Ground on Friday.
A 3-3 draw for St. Vincents and Bishops,Undri meant that Vincents finished at the top of pool A,thanks to better goal difference even though both the teams finished on 4 points from three encounters.
Hrishikesh Chavan again starred for St. Vincents as he posted another hat-trick,scoring in the 24th,27th and 35th minutes after Bishops,Undri had taken early lead through Farhan Shaikhs eighth minute goal.
Riddhant Sangamnerkar scored in the 28th minute to equalise at 2-2,but Chavans 35th minute goal again gave Vincents the advantage. It was Sanath Sangamnerkars 45th minute goal that restored parity and ensured the match ended with both sides splitting points.
St. Vincents will meet Army Public School in the first semifinal on Saturday. Meanwhile,Army Public School was held to a 2-2 draw by Bishops,Camp as both the schools booked their berths in the semifinals.
Ishan Rotelu (29th) and France Moris (39th) scored for Bishops,Camp,while Army Public School saw Ishant Sharma (seventh) and Nirmal Chetri (30th) giving their team the lead before parity was established.
In an inconsequential league match,The Bishops School,Kalyaninagar defeated Rewachand Bhojwani Academy 5-0 with Yash Karande (fourth and ninth minute) scoring a brace.
Sayyam Kathuria (fifth),Samuel Tyron (second) and Ayush Kanitkar (48th) were the other scorers.
