The three-day Robocon-2010,the national robotic contest, began on Thursday at the Shiv Chhattrapati Krida Sankul,Balewadi Stadium, with hosts MAE Pune and IIT,Chennai playing the inaugural match.
The event comprising 47 teams from all over India, will be showcasing a fine combination of teamwork, precision and innovativeness.
It was inaugurated by director general,MAEER Pune. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad by starting the robot to build the pyramid, said a press note issued here. This year, the theme for Robocon is Robo-Pharaohs Build Pyramids. In 2008,we had the opportunity of hosting the International ROBOCON at our campus and it was a great experience. Compared to the number of participants in 2005,where we started the computation with just 15 teams,in 2009 we had 55 teams which is an excellent response, said Karad said after inaugurating the contest.
India has been in the forefront always in terms of software and now it is time for us to prove that India can be a challenge to the world and this makes us sure that 21st century will be dominated by the India,he added.
Robo-Pharaohs Build Pyramids is a game based on a virtual time machine that takes ancient Egyptian Great-Pyramids builders inside classrooms of technical schools, said the note. The new target is to build parts of the three Pyramids (Khufu,Khafraa and Mankaura) in sequence in three minutes.
