Road accidents claimed five persons in 48 hours this week. On Tuesday,a 50-year-old man on a scooty was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the pedestrian bridge opposite Santosh Hotel,Nashik Road area. The police are yet to make arrests. The deceased,Manik Sadashiv Hazare,was a resident of Bhosari.

On Wednesday,a 24-year-old call centre employee,Brian Wagh,died after his Activa was hit by a vehicle at 2 am in the Pimple Gurav area. An eyewitness told the police that a Sumo had hit Wagh. Police naik R S Salve from Sangvi police is investigating the case.

In another accident on Wednesday,a 60-year-old man was killed in the Pimple Gurav area. The accident took place when Shrinagar Lane-resident,Pandurang Maruti Dalvi,was hit by a Scorpio car (MH14-CF-9600 ) near Katepuram Square at 2:45 pm. Police naik D M Ghanwat is investigating the case. Dalvi was on a bicycle.

In Yerwada,a woman died after she was thrown off a bike and then run over by a dumper. The accident took place at 11.30 pm when Nagar district-resident Sangeet Chavan,23,was on way home with acquaintance Ramesh Kamble on a bike. At Yerwada,their bike collided with a two-wheeler; Chavan was thrown off the bike due to impact and run over by a dumper. Police have arrested dumper driver Manik Rathod.

On early Thursday morning,a 50-year-old resident of Shivalay Society was run over by an unidentified heavy vehicle on Mumbai-Bengaluru highway in front of Nanavare Vasti near Sus village. Police said Arun Vitthal Rajurkar had gone for a morning walk on the service road and the accident might have occured when was trying to cross the highway to go to the service road on the other side.
