Dussehra celebrations in Pune were disrupted for a while after the clouds opened up and drenched the city on Wednesday night, stalling the burning of the effigies of Ravana at many places.
According to Meteorological Department officials the city recorded 16.8.mm rainfall between 7.45 pm and 8.30pm.
The maximum and minimum temperature on Wednesday were 31.5 and 21 degrees celsius.
Officials said that the city had been experiencing high temperatures for last few days.
Met Officials expect more showers in the coming days. The unexpected rainfall dampened the Dussehra festivities as the sudden downpour stalled the burning of Raavana at many pandals in the city. Rains also slowed down traffic and caused water logging on busy roads including J M Road and Shivaji Road. However,no major electricity failure or or untoward incident was recorded by fire brigade officials and electricity board authorities.
