Pushkaraj Bedekar wins Sunday Rapid Chess Championship

Pushkaraj Bedekar won the 43rd edition of the Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship organised jointly by the Pune District Chess Association and Global Mind Sports Foundation This is the first time Bedekar has won the tournament,said a press note.

He has participated in about 30 editions prev and is the only unrated winner in 43 editions so far . Of the total 34 players who participated,14 were rated and the matches were played over 7 rounds with Rajendra Shidore being the chief moderator.

While Bedekar bagged top honours,Kiran Panditrao finished second with 6 points and earned himself prize money of Rs 500 and a trophy.

ShaileshJaiswar finished third with 5.5 points and Abhimanyu Puranik came in fifth place with 5 points. The best under-10 trophy went to Sameer Inamdar of P Jog School,Chinchwad,while the best under-14 trophy went to Nikhil Dixit of Ramanbaug New English School. Akanksha Hagawane of DES School won the best ladies trophy while the best veterans trophy went to Ravindra Nargundkar.
