‘Pune Ratna’ award for Thackeray

The Pune-based Abhiyan Pratishthan on Thursday felicitated Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray by presenting him the Pune Ratna 2010 award. Thackeray received the award from cartoonist S D Phadnis at his Matoshree bungalow in Mumbai on Thursday. It included a replica of Shaniwar Wada and the traditional Puneri Pagdi.

Addressing the officebearers of Abhiyan Pratishthan,Thackeray said that he was born in Pune and hence “was very much a Puneite.”

Thackeray spoke about his experiences in Pune and appreciated the spirit of Puneites.

Mahesh Pawar,president of Abhiyan Pratishthan,executive president Vinayak Dharne,vice president Rajendra Deshmukh,secretary Netaji Babar were present at the award function.
