Pune sizzled on Tuesday with the automatic weather station (AWS) at Lohegaon recording 42.7 degrees Celsius, the hottest day so far this summer. The AWS at Shivajinagar recorded 41.3 degrees Celsius.

Summer this year has set in early in Pune and day temperatures have been crossing the 40-degrees-Celsius mark frequently. Lohegaon’s AWS has recorded above 40-degrees-Celsius temperatures several times this year so far, making it the hottest area of Pune. The AWS is located within the air force station and, being in an area with high traffic and construction activities, the place has been recording higher than normal temperatures.

Shivajingar’s AWS is located within the agriculture college and the AWS crossing 40-degrees-Celsius is a new trend in the city. Usually, Shivajingar records a slightly lower temperature than other places in the city.
