Pune: 3 held for preparing fake credit, debit cards

On August 9, the cyber cell team got information that some suspects involved in preparing bogus credit and debit cards were in Pune, travelling in a car (number — KL 14 N 4576). Cops also got information that the suspects were living in the area around Jehangir hospital.
Accordingly, a police team led by sub-inspector Pravin Swami launched searches and nabbed the suspects from the area around Jehangir hospital. Cops recovered about 109 blank cards, seven bogus cards in the name of one Muhammed Sabith, seven cell phones, three SIM cards, an internet dongle, two pendrives and other items.

Cops detained the trio under Section 41 (1) (d) of CrPC. During investigation, cops recovered a skimmer, machine used for making bogus credit and debit cards. Police also found the involvement of the accused in an offence related to bogus credit cards registered at the Mundhwa police station. Accordingly, they arrested the trio. Police said that the trio were also wanted in offences registered in Kerala.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (cyber cell) Deepak Sakore said that trio had worked in Dubai as labourers. It is suspected that they learnt the skill of manufacturing bogus cards from operatives in Dubai. Investigation is on to know if the trio are part of any larger racket.
