Pulotsav Festival from November 8

The eighth edition of the Pulotsav Festival will take place from November 8 to November 18.

The eighth edition of the Pulotsav Festival will take place from November 8 to November 18. “As this is the 25 th year of the Ashay Film Club,a film festival will be organised. It will be held at the National Film Archives of India (NFAI) and will begin from November 11 and will go on till November 17. As many as 25 films by acclaimed directors like Ingmar Bergman,Akira Kurosawa,Charlie Chaplin and from countries like Iran,Greece,Italy,Hungary,Iraq,Bhutan will be shown,” Virendra Chitrav one of the organisers of the festival said.

The festival will be organised at four centres across the city— Ramanbaug School,Tilak Smarak Mandir,NFAI,and Pathfinder. The main inauguration ceremony will be held on November 8 at the Tilak Smarak Mandir where Arun Date will be the chief guest. The next day will see noted poet ND Mahanore being felicitated with the Pu La Smruti Award. A programme ‘Pakshyainche Laksh Theve’ will also be organised at the Tilak Smarak Mandir. A book festival at the Pathfinder will be inaugurated on November 9. Dr Anil Awchat will be present for the launch. There will also be an interaction with Dr Awchat on the completion of 25 years of the Muktangan Centre.

“The Pu La Gratitude Honour will be given to Sindhutai Sapkal on November 10 at the Tilak Smarak Mandir and after the event there will be an interaction with Sindhutai Sapkal,” said Satish Jakatdar one of the organisers. Later that evening a play titled Khidkya will also be shown. A programme on Children’s Day titled Pu La Ajoba will be held at Tilak Smarak Mandir. The Zenith Asia special honour will be given to Madhur Bhandarkar at the NFAI on November 16 and the movie Chandni Bar will be screened.

On November 17 the music-director duo of Ajay-Atul will be felicitated with the Youth Award at the Ramanbaug School. The concluding ceremony of the festival will be held at the Ramanbaug School with a live telecast of the Marathi comedy programme,Phu Bai Phu.

The passes for the entire event will cost Rs 500. For members of the Ashay Film Club and Sanskrutik the passes are for Rs 300.
