The Professionals Party of India (PPI) on Tuesday launched their new security manifesto for the upcoming elections.
Speaking about the new manifesto, president of the PPA RV Krishnan said,The reason as to why we are launching a special security manifesto is because we believe that there is a tremendous need to improve both internal and external security post the 26/11 attacks. And that is a reason why we wish to address the situation independently.
Former Vice Admiral Suresh Bangara, one of the party spokespersons said,Comprehensive security will eventually cover all aspects of both national and internal security. Some of our plans for the same include setting up of national institutes for cyber warfare, integrating of the civilian and military staff of the MOD (Ministry Of Defence),modernisation of the police forces and improving the training facilities for policemen.
We would also like to create a national consensus to commit at least three per cent of the GDP to meet the various needs of the nation. Other issues we aim to address include minimisation of use of armed forces to quell internal problems, modernise weapons of the police forces, and consolidate, integrate and modernise all border security agencies and place them under one head, he added.
