Polymer exhibition Plasto 2012 from Dec 20

The sixth national techno polymer exhibition Plasto 2012 will be organised in the city from December 20-23 by the Association for Promotion of Plastics at Auto Cluster at Chinchwad.

At a press meet held by association members Amit Mehta,Manad Sachin and Anil Naik and consultant for Plasto Arun Kumbojkar said Warren Wilder,president of Polymers and Cracker Busines-Reliance Industries Ltd,had launched Plasto 2012 in the city. Companies from Japan,China and Taiwan have registered to participate in the exhibition,while over 250 companies will display their products. The expected turnout should be around 50,000, said the members.

Scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar will preside over the function. With Pune is being cited as the Detroit in the plastic industry,members said nearly 2,500-3,000 plastic manufacturing and processing units are located in the industrial belt in the district. Details of the entire industry will be showcased at the exhibition,said the organisers.

Association members said the plastic industry is expected to grow considerably in the next two years. Plastic component consumption per head is expected to reach 20 kg from 8 kg per head,while plastic component usage in auto industry,agriculture and other industries is also expected to rise. Members said plastic component industry is expected to become larger than auto component industry by 2020.
