Police complaint on undeclared expenses

A police complaint has been filed against Krantisena candidate in Maval Shivshankar Shinde for not declaring the details of his poll expenditure as per the orders of the Election Commission.

A police complaint has been filed against Krantisena candidate in Maval Shivshankar Shinde for not declaring the details of his poll expenditure as per the orders of the Election Commission. The second scrutiny was held on Thursday.

The second scrutiny had two defaulters,one independent candidate from Pune,Manohar Gavali,and Shinde from Maval. The returning officer in Maval,Vikas Kharge,decided to file a police complaint against the candidate.

According to the Election Commission,candidates are supposed to declare their expenses thrice before the polling day on April 23. The three dates for declaration of expenses are April 11,April 16 and April 22.

On the first day,there were seven candidates in Pune Lok Sabha constituency and one in Shirur who had not submitted the details and showcause notices were issued to them for violation of norms.

On Thursday,all the erring candidates had declared their expenses and the second list generated only two defaulters,according to a senior accounts officer monitoring the scrutiny of expenses.

In Pune,Congress candidate Suresh Kalmadi declared an expenditure of Rs 5.55 lakh till April 16,followed by Bahujan Samaj Party’s Deepak Kulkarni at Rs 4.76 lakh and BJP candidate Anil Shirole at Rs 3.91 lakh. Independent candidate Arun Bhatia from the People’s Guardian Party who had not declared the expenses in the first scrutiny has shown a consolidated amount of Rs 7.09 lakh as expenses. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena candidate Ranjit Shirole has recorded Rs 3.6 lakh while independent candidate Vikram Boke showed Rs 75,365.

In Baramati,key players Supriya Sule of the NCP registered a total expense of Rs 7.03 lakh while the BJP’s Kanta Nalawade showed Rs 1.85 lakh and the BSP’s Vivek Kudale Rs 1.91 lakh. Independent candidate Mrinalini Kakde has shown expenses of Rs 51,262.

In Maval,NCP candidate Azam Pansare recorded Rs 4 lakh as expenses while the Shiv Sena’s Gajanan Babar showed Rs 5.52 lakh. Independent candidate Maruti Bhapkar declared nearly Rs 2.5 lakh.

Shirur candidates,however,lead the poll expenses. The Shiv Sena’s Shivaji Adhalrao declared nearly Rs 8.33 lakh while the NCP’S Vilas Lande registered Rs 8.5 lakh,of which he has not paid Rs 45,000.

The election department officers said the candidates are expected to give a detailed breakup of their expenses at the last scrutiny on April 22.The election commission will also conduct a final review on May 17.
