The songs he penned created and yet continue to create history. But these days, lyricist and poet Sudheer Moghe is busy exploring the canvas. One of the explorations is a docu-feature based on the centenary of the Kirloskar Group of Industries. It portrays the journey of the first industrial family of Maharashtra against the canvas of time and social transformations. The second one is about expressions through colours, dropping the medium of words which was the tool he mastered for years.
Titled Aadhee bija ekale, the film portrays how, when Laxmanrao Kirloskar came to Kunder Road Station on March 10,1910,the place was a deserted village in the Aundh province. It depicts the 100-year journey using the audio-visual medium. It has become the story of 140 years considering that it starts from his birth, says Moghe.
With references to Cactus and Roses, the autobiography of S L Kirloskar and Yantrikachi Yatra, a book on Laxmanrao written by Shankarrao Kirloskar, the full length documentary narrates the inspiring journey of an industrial family that turned a small village of Kunder Road Station into an industrial township, the first and the only one in the state. When I started thinking about the concept, the entire canvas was blank and I had to fill in the space in such a manner that it did not look like a technical documentary. We started in January 2009 and finished the project in March this year. It is the journey of a township, biography of a person and the story of a visionary family that influenced the socio-cultural development of the state – against the backdrop of time that showcased some of the major events in the history of mankind such as two world wars, freedom struggle, independence and so on, says Moghe poetically.
Produced by Kirloskar Brothers Limited with Sudheer Moghe Creations as the executive producer, the film has Deboo Deodhar as the cinematographer,Raghuvir Kul as the creative supporter,Anand Modak as the music composer and Vineeta Angal as the editor. On March 10,when we premiered the film in Kirloskarwadi,I felt as if I gave back what I owed to the place that made me. We are now looking forward to reaching out to maximum number of people with this film, says Moghe as he subtly unveils his new found love about painting. While filmmaking was a medium I had earlier played with, this is a completely new venture. With strokes on canvas,I feel as if I have found a new medium of expression. The world knows me through my words, but with this,I dropped them and chose to express through silence, says he. It was probably the same reason why his exhibition at Kolhapur on May 27 was called Nishabda Neerav meaning without words, without sound.
