Coming down heavily on the civic education board, the newly-elected representatives of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday approved the Rs 252 crore budget of the civic education board for 2012-13.

At the meeting called for taking decision on the budget, elected representatives of all the political parties demanded improvement of infrastructure of the civic schools and pushed for quality education to those studying in the school.

“The school dress are of poor quality and cannot last more than a month,” said Vanita Wagaskar while presenting a sample of dress to mayor. She also complained that the food given to students under the mid-day meal scheme was of poor quality.

BJP corporator Medha Kulkarni said that the quality of education given to students was not up to the mark and the civic body was spending unnecessary funds on implementing projects of e-learning when most of the students were not getting basic education properly.
