The Canon on wheels- Image Express Technology Exposition got underway in the city on Friday.
The exhibition that started in Ahmedabad on April 23 will be touring 38 cities across India in the days to come. Pune is the fifth destination of this exhibition. The four-day exhibition is currently on at Sakhar Sankul near Agriculture College.
Speaking on the occasion Kensaku Konishi,president and CEO,Canon India,said,
The exhibition aims at getting closer to customers who are concentrated in the tier-two cities in India.
With six caravans and an overall investment of Rs 10 crore,the company is expecting a response of 75,000 visitors from Pune.
Last year,our revenue figures touched Rs 840 crore. This year,growing at a rate of 43 per cent,we have touched Rs 1,200 crore. We are targeting a sale of one million products by 2015 and are expected to touch revenue figures of Rs 4,500 crore, said Alok Bharadwaj,senior vice president of the company.
Geetanjali Kirloskar,chief guest for the inauguration said,I am happy that Canon is tapping potential customers in tier two cities. This will help promote photography as the hobby among common Indian households.
