PFC beat Arrows,race to third spot
PFC began the last leg of their campaign in the I-League with a 1-0 win over Pailan Arrows at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex,Balewadi on Sunday.

PFC began the last leg of their campaign in the I-League with a 1-0 win over Pailan Arrows at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex,Balewadi on Sunday,continuing their unbeaten run against Pailan Arrows at home. PFC striker Keita Mandjou netted the all-important goal in the 41st minute. The three points taks PFCs tally to 37,propelling them to the third place in the league. They are now ahead of Mohun Bagan in terms of goal difference,despite having same number of points.
It was a hard-fought victory for the home side,with the eight-man packed defence of Arrows keeping the PFC strikers at bay. Looping crosses from Karma Tsewang and Shanmugam Venkatesh kept the Arrows defence busy. However,neither of them could strike as Arrows keeper Ravi Kumar showed good form.
A temporary hold up owing to one of the light towers malfunctioning held up action for six minutes. Immediately,after the game resumed,the home side broke through Arrows defence with a move down the centre of the pitch.
Douhou Pierre put Arata Izumi in the clear to initiate the attack. Arata on a solo moved in and released a pass to an overlapping Keita on the left,who received the ball on the top of the box and did well to place the ball past an onrushing keeper to the second post.
In the second half,PFC took off from where they left off and created three close chances. Five minutes into the half,Subash sent in a crisp low ball from the left to an unmarked Karma in the box,who ended up miscuing his attempt.
After playing provider,Subash was in the thick of action on top of the box. In the clear and with an open goal in sight,the striker was caught in two minds ended up losing the ball. Douhou,who did well in passing the ball,had Arata on the left. PFC thus managed to avenge their defeat for their exit from the IFA shield.
