Parvati Peshwas won this year’s edition of the Pune District Premier League by defeating opponents Pimpri Panthers in the final held at the Shinde High School cricket ground. The tournament was organised by the Pune District Cricket Association.
Parvati Peshwas won the toss and put the opposition in to bat. Pimpri managed to score a meager total of 94 runs before being bowled out in 19.3 overs. Niranjan Godbole top scored with 25 runs of 26 balls while Jeevan Virkar supported him well with 18 runs of his own. The second wicket partnership of 30 runs in 25 balls between Godbole and Abhijeet Yeole helped give the score some sort of respectability. For the Peshwas,Sachin Aradhye was the pick of the bowlers scalping four wickets for just 17 runs while Mandar Sane supported him well with three wickets of his own.
In reply,the Peshwas achieved their target with seven wickets and 5.2 overs to spare. Zaid Ustad top scored with 32 runs in just 17 balls which included six hits to the fence and one six. Saiprasad Kaumani supported him well with 26 runs of just 21 balls which included three fours and one six. The partnership for the third wicket of 33 runs of 19 balls between Ustad and Sagar Shah (14*) helped their team on their way to victory. Sachin Aradhye was declared the man of the match.
The best batsman award was given to Saiprasad Kaumani of Parvati who scored 207 runs in the tournament. The best bowler award was given to Mandar Sane also of Parvati who took a total of 14 wickets while the man of the series award was given to Niranjan Godbole of Pimpri.
