Municiapal Commissioner Shekhar Singh assured citizens that the civic body is well-prepared to respond to any eventualities.Amid the incessant rainfall in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Thursday said it has activated its full monsoon preparedness protocol to ensure safety of people, minimise disruptions and swiftly respond to any incidents of waterlogging or flooding.
All zonal control rooms under PCMC are operating 24×7 with dedicated teams in three shifts. Critical areas with a history of water accumulation have been identified and are being closely monitored by Quick Response Teams (QRTs) equipped with pumps, rescue tools, and emergency manpower. Fire and emergency services have mobilised over 15 rescue boats and 200 life jackets across zones. Flood-prone zones near the Pavana and Indrayani rivers are under active surveillance, the civic administration said.
Municiapal Commissioner Shekhar Singh assured citizens that the civic body is well-prepared to respond to any eventualities. “While the rains have been continuous, there is no reason for panic. PCMC has anticipated such conditions and deployed teams, equipment, and control mechanisms accordingly. Citizens are requested to stay alert and contact the nearest zonal office or control room in case of any issues. We are committed to ensuring safety and continuity in essential services,” Singh said.
To manage health risks, PCMC’s health teams are on alert for waterborne diseases, disinfection measures are underway in vulnerable areas, and temporary shelters have been identified for potential relocation needs. The water supply and electrical departments are also inspecting underground and surface infrastructure for public safety.
