“We are organising a toy collection drive within our student network. Around 100 students will use social networking sites and will go door-to-door to collect toys that are in a good condition. Santa Claus will then distribute the same to the children!” says Somesh Narwani,event co-ordinator,Balakalakaar. Several big corporate houses will give out scholarships to students who excel in any art form. Schools have also tied up with the organisation to provide scholarships for primary education to the students excelling in academics. “It will be a fun day for the children as they enjoy this Christmas party. We want to spread some joy and give them a gift. What better gift could we give than that of education?” asks Narwani.

The celebrations will commence with events at the Global Village which will kick off on December 18 at Phoenix Market City,Nagar Road. Over 400 exchange students and interns will put up stalls of their home countries. “The students will give presentations about the culture,traditions and dress of their country for all the visitors at the mall. The children will be brought to the mall to interact with all these foreign nationals. A delicious meal will be served,comprising different cuisines of the countries represented at the Global Village,” informs Anvit Chandure,project head,Balakalakaar. The Global Village is an initiative to expose these children to the various cultures of the world and also to encourage multiculturism. Interns representing Italy,Columbia,Denmark,China,Japan,Russia,Finland,Germany and other countries will put up dances,dramas and other cultural programmes for the children.
