The Balakalakaar initiative by AIESEC will bring together 5000 children from various NGOs for a day filled with fun,competitions,prizes and scholarship awards
Over 5000 underprivileged children will congregate at the Tilak Ayurvedic Ground in December. These children from different city NGOs like Teach for India,Akanksha Foundation,Maher Ashram,Zensar CSR and others will participate in the celebration of the Christmas season with art and craft competitions,quiz contests and the like organised by AIESEC,a youth-run not-for-profit organisation. The event – Balakalakaar – is an initiative to build an environment to improve the quality of life of the underprivileged children. It will be held on December 26.
The celebrations will commence with events at the Global Village which will kick off on December 18 at Phoenix Market City,Nagar Road. Over 400 exchange students and interns will put up stalls of their home countries. The students will give presentations about the culture,traditions and dress of their country for all the visitors at the mall. The children will be brought to the mall to interact with all these foreign nationals. A delicious meal will be served,comprising different cuisines of the countries represented at the Global Village, informs Anvit Chandure,project head,Balakalakaar. The Global Village is an initiative to expose these children to the various cultures of the world and also to encourage multiculturism. Interns representing Italy,Columbia,Denmark,China,Japan,Russia,Finland,Germany and other countries will put up dances,dramas and other cultural programmes for the children.
