The Panchkula police has identified 16 locations in the city for 54 Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras,90 Automatic Number Plate Readers (ANPR) and 32 fixed Internet Protocol (IP) megapixel cameras.
PTZ is a kind of close circuit television camera which can be panned,tilted and zoomed in. ANPR uses optical character recognition on images. IP cameras have the facility to send and receive data via a computer network and the internet.
At Mansa Devi Complex T point,two PTZ cameras and six ANPRs are going to be installed. At Sector 17/18 roundabout four PTZs,eight ANPRs and four fixed IP megapixel cameras will be put up. At Toll Plaza on NH-22,12 ANPRs,which is maximum among all locations,along with two PTZs will be put up. At Old Panchkula roundabout three PTZs and 10 ANPRs will be installed while Civil Secretariat will have five PTZs,two ANPRs and six IP cameras. Another sensitive point is Zirakpur border which will have four PTZs and eight ANPRs.
Shakti Bhawan roundabout,Tawa Chowk,IT Chowk of MDC,Amartex Chowk,Majri Chowk flyover,Ghaggar Bridge near Majri Chowk,Ghaggar Bridge near Azad Colony,Sagla Chowk,and near Vikar Nagar are other priorities of the police for putting up these cameras.
At police headquarters of Sector 6,Panchkula,six PTZs and six IP cameras will be put up.
SP Panchkula,Maneesh Chaudhry said In the first phase we have focussed on border areas,locations where movement is more and so are important offices. In the next phase,we will target Pinjore,Raipur Rani,Barwala and Kalk.
The Panchkula police has already written to the electricity department to provide power at all 16 locations.
At 12 locations,illuminated road separators and road dividing traffic cones have to be installed to make the city surveillance project successful as per the police. For this,SP Panchkula had written to Building and Roads department,but they replied the matter falls under Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). Now,SP has written to Chief Administrator,HUDA,for the installation.
