Held up in a controversy for three months, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday gave an in- principle go ahead to the city police to execute the proposal of one way traffic on the two most busiest roads,Fergusson College Road and Jangli Maharaj Road.

“The traffic police gave a presentation on the execution of the proposal and the benefits due to it in easing out traffic on the two busiest road. Thus,it has been decided to make a few amendments and execute it on pilot basis,” BJP leader Vikas Matkari said.

The traffic police had proposed one-way from Good Luck chowk to Dnyaneshwar Paduka chowk on FC Road, but a change — extending it to Agriculture college chowk — has been proposed, with traffic moving from Deccan to Agriculture college. “Similarly, the one-way from JM Road should be from Sancheti Hospital chowk to Deccan Bus Stop,” he said, adding that the civic body will provide the necessary infrastructure for improving footpaths and putting up signage on the two roads. The traffic on Apte Road will continue as usual as two-way,while the direction of traffic on the lanes connecting the two roads will be decided as the execution progresses,Matkari said.
