73-year-old man dies as two-wheeler skids on roadside in Aundh

The impact was such that Kale fell on the road along with the two-wheeler and came under the front wheel of a car passing from his right side.

A senior citizen died after his two-wheeler skid over a pothole formed between the road and the paver block, near Rahul Hotel on the Nagras road in Aundh, on the afternoon of July 30.

Police have identified the deceased as Jagannath Kashinath Kale (73), resident of Aundh.

A video of the road accident, captured by a CCTV camera, went viral on social media. Police said Kale was heading towards Bhale chowk via Nagras road on a two-wheeler.

As seen in the video, around 12.58 pm, the two-wheeler lost balance after skidding on the pothole between the paving blocks and the road side.

The impact was such that Kale fell on the road along with the two-wheeler and came under the front wheel of a car passing from his right side.

The video shows that the car was not speeding and stopped at the spot immediately after the mishap. Citizens at the spot rushed for his help. Some of them picked up Kale’s body and got him away from the road. He was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead, the police said.

As per the legal procedure an accidental death report was lodged at the Chaturshringi police station. Police said they have details of the car driver and a probe was launched into the accident.

Meanwhile, local residents have demanded action against the contractor and officials of Pune Municipal Corporation for not repairing the potholes and dangerous spots on the roads.
