Cricketing spirit still reflects in his thinking as cricketer Vinod Kambli, ventures into acting with his first Marathi film Lagalee Paij
It wouldn’t be inappropriate to say- one can separate cricketer from cricket, but not cricket from the cricketer. Because years after retirement from world cricket, practice is what, retired Indian batsman Vinod Kambli, calls the secret of his performance- be it on field or off field – shooting for a film. The dexterity of this left handed batsman remains unmatched even in the dance sequences that he’s doing for his upcoming Marathi film- Lagalee Paij. Kambli who was in the city for the shooting of the film, spoke about the film, cricket and much more.
The song,a dance sequence is based on the 20-20 sensation in the world of cricket and Kambli in a true cricketing spirit adds,”I am happy with the fact that I am associated with cricket in the film as well. When it comes to performance, the key formula of success is practice.”
Discussions automatically are directed towards cricket as Kambli cannot resist to comment on Sachin Tendulkar’s dropped ICC ranking. He says,”Tendulkar has been one of the greatest batsmen in the history of Indian cricket and I believe that he has even superseded the ranking standards. He is above all the cricketers in the world.” On being quizzed about the authenticity of the ranking methods and possibility of racial discrimination in cricket rankings,he adds,”There was a time when I was number one,but rankings keep changing. Discriminations do happen but the best way to perform is by not being bothered about rankings.”
