It was an evening to remember by,when the likes of Asha Bhosle,Sadashiv Amrapurkar,Raveena Tandon,Ganesh Yadav,Prateik Babbar,Tejaswini Pandit and Umesh Kamat descended on the city. They had come to be a part of the Umed Purasskar ceremony, which was held on May 16 at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha. The guests were introduced by a small poem after which they were conferred upon with the Umed Purasskar by water resources minister Sunil Tatkare. After the award ceremony Asha Bhosle took to the stage and amused the audience with anecdotes from her long career. She even expressed her adoration for Prateik Babbar by saying,“Your mother used to consider me to be her second mother,so you are my grandson and I love you the same way.” Interestingly when she attempted to exit the stage the audience began demanding her to sing a song that prompted her to reply “Why is it always me? You never ask Raveena to dance!” Tandon in fact surprised the audience by saying,”I will only dance if you sing.” The duo then thrilled the audience with an impromptu performance of ‘Yeh mera dil pyaar ka deewana’.
