Now,Pune co-operative bank to provide ATM facility to customers

Like all other major banks, the Pune District Central Co-operative Bank has also decide to provide ATM facility to its customers.

Like all other major banks, the Pune District Central Co-operative Bank (PDCC) has also decide to provide ATM facility to its customers. Work for installation of the ATM kiosks is on and the first five kiosks will be ready by month-end. The bank has around 10 lakh customer in the district and over one lakh in the city.

PDCC,with its 247 branches in the district including 40 in the city, also provides salary account services to a number of government offices in the city. Account holders including ZP officials, primary and secondary school teachers and professors waste hours standing in queues to withdraw their salary every month in the absence of the ATMs. All the major banks had started the facility over a decade ago and have now even upgraded their internet and mobile banking services.

“We are aware that we are lagging far behind in providing these facilities but we are shortening the gap. There are several issues when you run a co-operative bank,” said Digambar Durgade,PDCC chairman.

In the first phase, the bank has decided to start ATMs at its branches in B J Road,Laxmi Road,Pune Zila Parishad and Market Yard besides setting up a kiosk in Baramati town.

“Firstly, the facility will be provided in the city branches. Then it will be taken to all the taluka headquarters followed by important religious places and MIDC centres and after that to our village branches,” said Durgade.

According to S R Patole, computer officer of the bank,as many as 215 branches have been interconnected, which is a pre-condition for ATM facility. The work for bringing remaining 32 branches in the loop, mostly in remote areas,is on and would take one or two months more.

“Initially, the ATM users will only be able to use card in PDCC ATM kiosks and account holders in other banks won’t be able to use our ATMs. But once we join the National Financial Switch (NFS),the ATM will function like any other bank,” said Patole.
