The Jungle Stage
Recently,City International School’s annual concert by students of K G was held at Yashwantrao Chavan Natymandir. The theme ‘Save Forests,Save Us’ saw students performing songs on animals,rain,nature and the like. A Grade 1 student,Shubhalakshmi,confidently hosted the function. The tiny tots dressed up in costumes of elephants,fish,flowers,peacocks,while some played characters of Mowgli,Baghira and Baloo of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book . A delightful show for parents and teachers. Those present at the occasion included Dr Bhushan Shukla,child psychologist and psychiatrist,Sanjay Kumbre,president of City International School,Gauri Benke,director of the school,and Principal Nirmal Waddan.
Golden Jubilee
St Joseph High School,Pashan,completed 50 years in June this year. The golden jubilee celebrations will go on till March 2012. Events,competitions and get-togethers are on the agenda. Tree plantation programmes,a folk dance competition in July,quizzes,debates,basketball and hockey matches have already been held. A Sports Day was organised and a musical program ‘Prem Dharma’ along with a fete were held in November and December. On December 30,an ex-students get-together will be held so that the alumni can reconnect with the school. On February 2,2012,a programme of Mother Foundress’ Feast of Sister’s Day will be celebrated,while the closing ceremony will be held on March 19,2012,on the occasion of St Joseph Feast Day.
Christmas Party
On Saturday,December 10,excitement spread amongst students of the primary section of The Bishops School,Camp. Preparations had begun for the Christmas party day in advanve. Classrooms were decorated beautifully and the corridors looked equally attractive with twinkling lights and other decorations. At the entrance,the Crib with Baby Jesus in the Manger,together with a Christmas tree and a Snowman,were set up to welcome everyone. The day began with prayers after which the students were then taken to the Jejeebhoy Grounds. A Nativity Play was enacted and all students joined in the carol singing. The icing on the cake was Santas grand entry. The students then shared their snacks and even received gifts a small gift from their teachers as a token of their love.
Abacus Programme
The SIP Academy has recently launched its latest series of abacus and Brain Gym programmes. These programmes also ensure that children can learn mathematics five times faster. Dinesh Victor,MD,SIP India,says,We want to set new benchmarks in the abacus industry in India where more and more people,especially students can be trained. The programme is currently on in 560 centres across 200 cities in 19 states. In addition to improving their arithematic skills,the children will also work on developing their concentration,focus and memory.
Sporty Affair
Recently,RIMS International School and Junior College conducted its 7th Annual Sports Day at AIPT grounds. The first two days saw various track and field events being conducted for primary,secondary and senior sections. The Sports Meet was inaugurated on the third day by chief guest Krushna Patil,the second youngest Indian to climb Mount Everest,and Lt Col P Yaldhow,Deputy Comdt,AIPT. Tug of War,aerobics,gymnastics and karate formations were some of the highlights of the day. Some races were also organised for parents and teachers. The events ended with the prize distribution ceremony. Sapphire House won the Best House Prize for winning the maximum medals,followed by Ruby House and Topaz House.
