‘No peace with 35% below poverty line’

At the three-day national round table conference organised by World Peace Centre,MAEER’s MIT,Pune,Dr James L Peacock stressed that of the total world population,35 per cent live below poverty line. This,he said,is the main obstacle for world peace. “We cannot expect peace in this condition,” said Peacock,co-director,Duke-Rotary Peace Center,USA.

Relating the philosophy of world peace with Bhagwatgita,Dr Francis Lethem said,“The dialogue between Arjuna and Krishna in Gita is the best example for the philosophy behind world peace. All aspects of life have been described in the Gita.”

Dr Budhacharan Das,president,Bodhisattva Foundation,who presided over the function,said,“We are searching for peace outside,but the real peace stay within us. Once the human race starts looking inside,the conflicts between people on the basis of religion,race,country and so many other things will automatically vanish.”
