Kingfisher Airlines has cancelled all its flights from and to the city till next Friday. Talking to The Indian Express,an official of the Pune Airport said,The airlines has cancelled all its flights till October 12,very much on the lines of what has been happening across the country. No further communication has been received by officials.
The airline,which has been plagued by debt crisis,has cancelled the flight operations starting October 1 when reported dissatisfaction of employees over non-payment of salaries resulted in flight disruptions.
In an official statement issued on Thursday,Prakash Mirpuri,vice-president,Corporate Communications,Kingfisher Airlines Limited,said,On October 1,2012,Kingfisher Airlines Ltd was forced to declare a partial lockout in view of the illegal strike perpetrated and continued by a faction of technicians,AMEs and pilots. We regret that the illegal strike has still not been withdrawn and normalcy has not been restored. In light of this,Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. has been constrained to extend the partial lock-out which commenced from Monday evening (1st of October,2012) up to Friday the 12th of October,2012 or up to such earlier date on which the said illegal strike is called off,and the management is informed about the same.
The airlines operates five daily flights from the city – IT 151,153 and 156 to Delhi,IT 2821 to Goa and IT 2822 to Bangaluru. Airport officials said about 200 passengers from the city have been affected per day. Though a number of travel portals have removed the option of selecting and booking Kingfisher flights,the official website of Pune Airport kept showing the arrival status of Kingfisher flights as on schedule.
