As one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar dawns, many people prefer to mark it with a new beginning. Here’s how some city-based celebrities will usher in the Hindu new year
Mugdha Godse,Model and Actor
This year I am shooting for my forthcoming movie All The Best. In fact,we will begin on Gudi Padwa and which better day than this. I am sure its going to be exciting although ill miss my family in Pune where I have been celebrating since childhood, preparing sweets and adorning the Gudi.
Although its a special day,it is spent in a very simple way with Puja and prayers. I might visit the city this time. Traditionally people buy things but these days we hardly wait for a muhurat to invest. In fact, its a good idea to buy something precious and celebrate this Gudi Padwa in a different way.
Prasad Oak,Actor
Its the muhurat of my film Pakda Pakdi so I am busy with the song recording with Ashok Saraf. However I still remember last years Gudi Padwa since I did my directorial debut on that day. The most obvious way of celebrating is by buying gold which I gift my wife each year.
Sameer Dharmadikari,Film and TV Actor
Any new beginning is considered auspicious on this day and incidentally this time I am shooting,as its the muhurat of an ad film. Otherwise we have the Gudi established and the authentic Maharashtrian food including shrikhand puri. I might also drive down to Pune to meet my parents in the evening.
Salil Kulkarni,Singer
I always make it a point to be at home for Gudi Padwa celebrating it with all the rituals we have been following since childhood. I will be also performing at Balgandharva Rangamandir this evening and its the best way to start the year, being with my audience and singing for them.
