NCP wins Pimpri byelection

NCP defeated RPI by a margin of 458 votes in the Jijamata Hospital (Prabhag 43 A) bypoll.

NCP, bypolls, Pune, Pimpri NCP defeated RPI by a margin of 458 votes in the Jijamata Hospital (Prabhag 43 A) bypoll of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

NCP’s Arun Taak on Monday defeated RPI’s Arjun Kadam by a margin of 458 votes in the Jijamata Hospital (Prabhag 43 A) bypoll of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Taak secured 2573 votes while Kadam managed 2115 votes. Sunil Chabukswar of the Shiv Sena and brother of MLA Gautam Chabukswar was pushed to third position. He managed 1839 votes.

The election was necessitated after Gautam Chabukswar, who had won on Congress ticket five times, was elected as the MLA on Shiv Sena ticket in the Assembly elections held in October. Gautam Chabukswar had roped in his brother to represent him in the ward, but his efforts failed to yield result.
