Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state president Sunil Tatkare on Friday participated in a signature campaign in Pune. President of the NCP state women’s wing Rupali Chakankar was also present at the event.

Thousands of people signed the white canvas which read “I support the Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme and want it to continue for next 5 years”, stated an NCP press release.

Speaking at the event, Tatkare highlighted Mahayuti government’s women-centric welfare schemes. Thanking everyone who participated in the campaign, he said, “With schemes like Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme, Free education to girls and Lek Ladki Bahin Scheme, government is making efforts to empower the women of the state.”

He added, “Ajit Dada, along with Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Aditi Tatkare introduced a groundbreaking scheme after a girl took her own life because her parents couldn’t pay 50 per cent of her fees. Now, for families earning up to Rs 8 lakh annually, the state government through Mulina Mofat Shikshan Yojana will cover their daughters’ higher education costs.”
