National Quality award for AFK

PUNE: Ammunition Factory Khadki (AFK) received the Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award-2010 in the category of Large Scale Manufacturing Industry. The award was presented by K V Thomas,MoS (Independent Charge) for Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution. AFK received a Commendation Certificate,a Silver Plaque and cash prize of Rs 50,000 at an event in New Delhi recently. AFK’s performance was assessed in the fields of leadership,quality system objectives and strategies,human resource management,resources,processes,customer focused results,employee satisfaction,impact on environment and society and business results. B N Singh,senior general manager,AFK,said,“For the first time this year AFK reached a turnover of Rs 1,000. AFK has worked a lot on modernization,automation,R&D,innovation,quality systems,and training of human resources. The all round hardwork of the AFK employees helped in achieving the award. AFK also bagged the State-level Award for Excellence in Energy Conservation and Management from Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (Govt. of Maharashtra) in the general category of participants.

Selection for BSC at BEG

PUNE: Bombay Engineer Group & Centre,Kirkee,Pune,will conduct an event at its centre from May 7 to 14 to select candidates for induction into Boys’ Sports Company (BSC) in Rowing,Boxing,Gymnastics and Wresting. The selected candidates will be provided academic training from VI to X std. The training will be free of cost in Hindi Medium school. The intensive coaching in Boxing,Rowing,Gymnastics and Wrestling will be provided by Sports Authority of India (SAI). On attaining Class X pass certificate,the candidates will be put through final selection process as applicable for enrolment into Army. Selected boys will be intimated to join Boys’ Sports Company during the month of Aug 2012. Students between 11 years to 15 years with minimum qualification as class V passed and with knowledge of English and Hindi can apply. Physical criteria include- Height – Minimum 144-153 cm for 11 year old children,154-157 cm for 12 year old children,158-163 cm for 13 year old children,160-165 cm for 14 year old children,168-173 cm for 15 year old children. Medical fitness will be ascertained by medical officer of Sports Medicine Centre.
