The film makers of Haapus believe that it is important to entwine music along with the movie to create a harmonious blend
Usually it’s a rain song and an item song that we are asked to do and the music is done with,” says music director Salil Kulkarni of the film Haapus as he describes how music in the film industry is mostly handled. “But it was different with Haapus, here we consciously made music that would envelop the whole movie together. It shouldn’t be that the viewers leave the hall while the song is being played to get refreshments for themselves. In fact the music should always tie you up to the movie’s basic emotions,” he adds. Kulkarni was present along with the lyricist Sandeep Khare, and the producer of the film Sanjay Chabria during the music launch of the film on Wednesday.
Haapus, directed by Abhijeet Satam,is based on a family staying in Konkan and their struggle with entrepreneurship and breaking the barriers of the middlemen involved in the farming sector. Believed to be a movie with a message,it is rated to be high on the entertainment factor too. But its also the music of the film that has caught the attention of a lot of Marathi movie lovers. Kulkarni says,”In the last four days since after our song was sung on a reality show,I have been asked by a lot of people for the song on request. With just three songs in the movies,we made sure that it is a mix of correct elements.”
The movie does not boast of a lot of songs, but all of them express different moods. ” Songs in a movie should be more than just filers. Haapus’s story is about a struggle and the music ought to reflect that,” says Sandeep Khare, the lyricist adding,So while Amba Pikto describes the struggles that the family goes through,Asa Asava is a light hearted romantic number with lyrics that are beautifully put. The title track Haapus,is a rocky number that is already creating waves for its music and the punch it brings along with it.
