With several unauthorised constructions dotting the city outskirts, district Collector Chandrakant Dalvi has sent a proposal to the state government to form a special cell under the deputy collector, three town planners and six assistant town planners to monitor the constructions.
Resident deputy collector Anil Pawar said that the cell would do a thorough checking of all the structures in the area. Two constables and a jeep would be provided to the team that would do the rounds and assess all the structures in the outskirts, he said. The collector has also issued a notice saying no illegal construction will be spared.
The decision on the panel was taken last month during the discussion on implementation of the Development Control rules in areas up to 10 km from the civic limits. The Pune initiative is to be followed by Nagpur,Aurangabad and Nashik.
The collector was to conduct drive to assess the number of constructions for which permissions were sought from the village Panchayat and not from the district collector. With fringe areas directly coming under the collector,he should be issuing the sanctions and action can be taken against persons who have erected the structures without the collectors permission, said Pawar.
