Moshi murder: four arrested

The city police have cracked the murder of notorious criminal Ganesh Baban Yelwande and one Salim,who were bludgeoned to death near a public water tank on Tuesday in Moshi.

The city police have cracked the murder of notorious criminal Ganesh Baban Yelwande and one Salim,who were bludgeoned to death near a public water tank on Tuesday in Moshi.

A police team led by police inspector Mohan Vidhate arrested one Arun Nana Palande (32),a resident of Pradhikaran,Mahavir Kedarnath Sharma (56) from Delhi,Vilas Digambar Naik (39) of a resident of Bhagwat Chawl in Bhosari and Mujahid Abdul Hamid Shaikh (28) a native of Karnataka around 2.30 am on Saturday.

According to deputy commisioner of police Mahesh Patil,Arun Palande works as a supervisor with Digvijay Transport,run by former PCMC corporator Shankar Dagdu Pandharkar while the other three accused work as drivers with the company

Police said that Ganesh used to ask for money from the company staff by threatening them. Enraged at his regular demand for money,the company staff decided to eliminate him.

Police said that on Tuesday evening Ganesh along with his accomplice Salim went to the office. The duo was beaten badly by ten company staff. After they fell unconscious,the accused threw them in the public water tank at Moshi.

Salim,who regained consciousness tried to escape,but the accused chased him and hit his head with stones,which led to his death. The other accused in the murder case are absconding. Three police teams are deployed to search their whereabouts.

PI Vidhate said,”A police team is sent to Indore in search of the four more accused in the case,who have absconded to Indore.”
