MNS ticket exam over,interview next

As many as 619 Maharashtra Navnirman Sena ticket aspirants for the municipal corporation polls from Pune and 188 from Pimpri-Chinchwad appeared for the written test conducted by the party on Sunday.

As many as 619 Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) ticket aspirants for the municipal corporation polls from Pune and 188 from Pimpri-Chinchwad appeared for the written test conducted by the party on Sunday. About 70 aspirants did not appear for the exam.

The exam started at 11 am at three centers in Pune,Savitribai Phule School and Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Urdu School in Bhavani Peth and Baburao Sanas Kanyashala in Mangalwar Peth. There was only one exam center in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The exam had 49 objective questions of 2 marks each,question number 50 was a descriptive question that had 2 marks. Two other questions also required descriptive answers,but they carried no marks but grades (A,B or C).

The questions mostly related to functioning of municipal corporations and the aim and objective of the MNS. There were some questions on general knowledge and media as well. One question asked them to match names of editors with their newspapers or TV channels. To maintain decorum,the MNS had deployed men in black trousers and T-shirts with instructions to prevent any outsider from entering the hall and to ensure there is no hooliganism. A team of teachers from Aurangabad was called in as supervisers.

Balasaheb Shedge,city unit chief of the MNS,said,“Aspirants took the exam seriously. Some had come to the center much before exam time and revised what they had studied. All our corporators attended the exam. Not a single incident of copying was reported.”

Women’s wing leader of MNS,Reeta Gupta,said there was enthusiasm among female aspirants,too. “Initially they were tense. But after the exam,all of them seemed happy they had learned a lot of new things because of the exam,” she said.

Dhankor Ranbirsingh Dudhani,an illiterate woman who had contested civic elections as independent candidate twice and lost,wanted a writer for the exam but was denied permission. “I asked for a writer as I am illiterate. I was told I had to write it alone,” she said. She said she went ahead and gave a shot at the objective questions.

MNS Corporator Babu Wagaskar said,“My wife and I appeared for the exam. We hope to score 100 out of 100.” Another aspirant,Dipak Thakar,as well as his father,appeared for the exam.

Anil Shidore,general secretary MNS,said that marks would not be declared and there would not be any cut off. “Our party chief would interview all aspirants,” said Shidore.
